About this deal

I was hoping to avoid using a standard UK mains socket to connect to the Ring as I thought it'd look more ugly. Moreover, regarding temperature testing it says “Temperatures are determined during a cyclic test of 20 cycles, each cycle consisting of 1 min operation with the simulated full load and 5 min operation with a load of 20% of the simulated full load. You have 30 days from the date you received your device(s) to request a full refund with no questions asked.

I'll be getting a simple dumb wired doorbell but I want to make sure it is future proofed so I can install a Ring Pro 2 in the not too distant future (this is a hardwired variant of the Ring doorbell). Maybe the best approach is to decide the best location of the Ring transformer (in/by existing consumer unit, placed in existing bellbox, new housing at bellbox location). If you have an existing doorbell, your new device can be installed with the included Din-Rail Transformer. The Ring support site and product naming is absolutely atrocious and my electrician has not been able to advise me. But they can't tell me why and I am losing faith that they have any idea what they are talking about! It's just I've read conflicting reports of people not using the resistor (or at least they never mentioned it in their reporting back on results) and it would seem to work fine without it ? This power supply needs to be fed from a circuit breaker, otherwise it has no protection in the event of a fault!

Or could I remove the whole box shown in the picture and replace it with the transformer + enclosure (i.The ring video door bell will be taking power continuously and thus a transformer intended for normal door bells may not be suitable as a power supply to a video door bell system. I guess the Ring transformer could hide within the redundant bellbox if the original transformer is in the bellbox.

If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. An electrician recently installed a replacement transformer for one that had burnt out in my old door bell.Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I have not been able to determine whether I have the right components for what should be a simple solution. We are one of the largest independent electrical wholesalers in the West Midlands, with distribution centres in Leicester, London, Manchester and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. You could take mains supply from an existing socket, into the Ring transformer, but you would need to locate a housing for the transformer at some point in the supply to the doorbell.
