About this deal

This book will be well used and stained with a little roasted chilli oil, lime juice and nahm pla before long, a universal sign of a great cookbook. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. But the dish that is perhaps the most emblematic of Chantarasak approach is som tang ‘farang’, a take on the famed salad of shredded-then-pounded green papaya seasoned with a number of key Thai flavourings including tamarind, palm sugar and dried shrimp. To that end, Chantarasak presents classic Thai dishes and flavours, but makes use of British ingredients alongside traditional Thai ones. Intricate details; a shirt with a butter crust collar, and harmonious colour combinations; chestnut and earth tone florals are best appreciated up close.

A stint working at Bristol’s Casamia restaurant was educational but Chantarasak soon found himself yearning for the flavours of Thailand. With our solid background in restaurants , we are now creating a new healthy concept around Thai food in a mall kiosk. It’s perfect with plain rice, but we also enjoyed it alongside umami-rich ‘Red Fire’ Greens with Yellow Soybean Sauce ( pak kheo fai daeng) for which we used baby choi sum.The high-waisted Kamm pants have a dedicated following, a versatile silhouette that flatters every body shape. I was Not sure about the pickled green stuff, it seemed more like something you might find in a mezze, but it grew on me when I crunched on it between slurps of curry!

I haven't cooked all of the recipes yet, but so far I like the recipes and the way the book is organised by cooking method (grill, braise, stir fry). Join us for a quick meal or a relaxing cafe experience and let us share the taste of Thailand with you.

complained about the overly attentive waiting staff, and it’s fair to say you do see a lot of them, including clearing plates throughout the meal which is a little odd. John is a talented chef, with a natural ability to produce thoughtful, delicious Thai food, and… has made a real contribution to the Thai food scene in the UK and beyond. Really enjoyed reading this review, and so glad the cookbook ticks all the boxes – sounds wonderful.

It also whets the appetite for Chantarasak and his wife Desiree’s MJMK-backed debut bricks-and-mortar site, which is expected to open soon. Chapters are structured by type of dish, from snacks and relishes to curries, stir-fries and salads, so you can easily find your favourites - from Roast Duck and Lychee Red Curry (gaeng daeng bpet) and Langoustine and Rhubarb Hot and Sour Soup (dtom yum goong) to Red Fire Greens with Yellow Soybean Sauce (pak kheo fai daeng) and Assorted Flavour One-bite Royal Snack (miang kham). This is followed by a similar passage on the food of ‘The British Isles’, describing the rich and fertile landscapes, and the produce grown on land or harvested in our seas and rivers. Our recipes, inspired from travels and our family and friends are crafted in house and we don’t believe in compromising on taste.

Rather the Eductor clan enjoyed a really rather good and certainly very filling meal, catering for both veg and carnivore tastes adequately on a cut down Covid menu. At the end we are okay with the restaurant for the generous portions, definitely ready to give “another round”. From Roast Duck and Lychee Red Curry ( gaeng daeng bpet) and Langoustine and Rhubarb Hot and Sour Soup ( dtom yum goong) to Red Fire Greens with Yellow Soybean Sauce ( pak kheo fai daeng) and Assorted Flavour One-bite Royal Snack ( miang kham). We saw this restaurant for long times on the market street and we’re so curious to try it, cause always fully booked when we tried to enter walking in.

Thus far, the three recipes we’ve made each result in bold and satisfying flavours, and are all three dishes we’ll make again. At the beginning of each chapter, a list of the recipes within is provided, and this is backed up by a decent index (though the latter doesn’t include Thai-language ingredients or dishes, which is a shame). We have delicious dishes no matter whether you would prefer something with no chillies to something that’s will warm your cockles! We’re a family-owned business with a passion for bringing the authentic taste of Thai cuisine to Birmingham and beyond.
