About this deal

ASICS kept the Gel Cumulus under 10 ounces (9.8 ounces/277g) which is great. It’s not overly heavy and as a daily trainer, it’s actually decent in the weight category.

Ferrari, J., Hopkinson, D. A., & Linney, A. D. (2004). Size and shape differences between male and female foot bones: is the female foot predisposed to hallux abducto valgus deformity?. Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 94(5), 434-452. Engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibres open to improve breathability. The high versatility of the Cumulus 23 means that it can handle easy runs, recovery runs, steady runs and it even has enough cushioning for long distances of 40+ kilometres. I recommend this shoe to my friends because I love putting it on. Seriously, I can’t get my foot out of it. I like wearing it all the time, even when I’m not running. This shoe is just a great and reliable ride. What’s Special About the ASICS GEL-Cumulus 23? Top Three Things:Walking around in the Cumulus 23, I could feel that the layer directly underfoot was less spongy than the Nimbus 23 with less of a sink-in sensation.

DPT/Footwear Science: B (Great points for gender specific shoes, minus points for poor heel execution) Also, at 24.3N on our lace slip test, the lace outperformed other recently tested shoes like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 which measured in at only 13.8. ASICS GEL-Cumulus 23 Shoe Review: Run Test Review

Sally Brider

ROBBE: Last year, all three of our reviewers were pretty into this shoe as an overall daily trainer. I actually wore it but didn’t review it because do we really need four people and a dissertation on the Cumulus? Absolutely not. If you were to Google image search “daily training running shoe”, the odds are high that the Asics Cumulus would be one of the first images that pop up. One of my favorite things about ASICS shoes is their outsoles, and this shoe is no different. The Cumulus 23 features a new AHAR LITE rubber. This is a great rubber that’s lighter than before but doesn’t sacrifice durability. I can see this shoe lasting a long time because of the outsole. This outsole is also grippy and provides a lot of ground feel. If you’re someone who likes to feel connected with the surface you’re running on, then you’ll appreciate this outsole as much as I do. ASICS GEL-Cumulus 22 Versus ASICS GEL-Cumulus 23 Compared to other mid-priced, neutral daily trainers from other brands, the Cumulus receives the most updates annually which keeps things exciting and fresh. Overall: B- (Great shoe for midfoot/forefoot strikers. Heel strikers should look elsewhere. Very nice fit but clunky heel)

When I first saw pictures of the Cumulus 23 online, my initial thought was that it looks very similar to the Nimbus 23. However, this shoe isn’t exclusively for beginners. If you’re a seasoned marathoner and need to log a lot of miles, you’ll want this shoe in your rotation. It’s a great classic—you can’t go wrong. While the Nike Pegasus, New Balance 880, Saucony Ride and Hoka Clifton receive upper-only updates every other year, you can expect the Cumulus to get a brand new upper, midsole and outsole every year. In addition to the cushioning properties of the insoles and outsoles that contribute to the comfort of the shoe, there is also good ventilation thanks to the mesh upper. The polyester upper allows perspiration and heat to escape for comfortable exercise and foot hygiene. In addition, the textile lining and seamless upper eliminate the risk of unpleasant rubbing that can lead to chafing. The midsole lining also provides a pleasantly soft feel. Another major advantage of the Gel-Cumulus 23 is its low weight, which makes running more comfortable and smooth. Fashion Meets FunctionFor me, there aren't any cons but if you're looking for a pair of higher performance running shoes , ASICS has such a great offering in their 'Run Faster' range which uses all the latest technology. ASICS made significant updates to the GEL-Cumulus 22 that you now see in the GEL-Cumulus 23. For starters, the 23 now has a full-length FLYTEFOAM™ Propel midsole, which provides an ultra-lightweight springy bounce throughout your run. This foam helps make the ride feel effortless and enjoyable. Your foot bounces off the pavement with a springy, cushioned response when you run in the GEL-CUMULUS™. The GEL-CUMULUS™ range maxes out on cushioning and the GEL™ cushioning technology is designed to give you the light bouncy feeling of running on clouds. The Gel Cumulus 23 is a shoe that doesn’t make you think about which shoe to wear for what run. This shoe is designed on a budget for the runner that just wants something they can comfortably jog in day-in and day-out no matter what type of workout they are aiming for. I’m not going to act like this is some sort of revolution, because it’s not. It’s pretty straightforward. If you’re reading this review, you probably know what kind of shoe you want. Yes, this will work if you’re just running three miles a day, three times a week. If you liked last year’s version, which was pretty solid, you’ll be fine with this one as well.
