Day 16 is more Christmas Trees! These are slightly smaller and less ornate than Day 13’s large Christmas Tree, but are perfect to pad out and Christmas-ify the Yule Ball scene. The calendar has an assortment of fan favourite and recognisable characters from the Star Wars extended universe. Children will be able to play with figurines of Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Ahch-To Island, Poe’s X-wing, a Quadjumper and Stormtroopers, along with a selection of weapons and vehicles. You can now start putting these Christmas Trees together, and assemble this iconic Great Hall look from the Goblet of Fire. I do like the construction of the window, which uses some really clever SNOT (studs not on top) technique, and I especially like the glass of water which has blue liquid at the bottom. The LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2023 set includes 335 pieces in total and is suitable for children who are 7 or older as small pieces could cause a choking hazard for anyone below 7. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, are some of the figures that are included in the set, and this is the first ever Advent Calendar to feature a figurine of Albus Dumbledore's brother Aberforth. There are also buildable models of the houses and shops in Hosgmeade. Behind each door there is a picture guide to assembling each figurine. Only the Mic Stand has been a little forgettable, and I think the combination builds (Wall + Fireplace, and Banquet Tables) which work to create larger more substantial models. I love the use of Day 2 for microbuilds (we got an amazing micro Hogwarts Express in Day 2 last year), and I think the design works for Hogwarts, and I like that the Gryffindor Tower, Great Hall and entrance are immediately recognizable. Welcome to another year of Advent Calendar Countdowns! For 2020, I’ll be counting down with 3 Advent Calendars – Harry Potter, Friends and the annual Star Wars Advent Calendar countdown! Together with the trees, it really feels like the Yule Ball is coming together, and I really like the design of the banquet table, and especially the great use of colours that contrast nicely against the white and transparent pieces. The Lego Star Wars 2018 Advent Calendar was a fan favourite last year and is still holding strong for the 2019 season. Featuring more puzzle pieces than the 2019 version, we still expect this advent calendar to be a favourite this year.Day 11 of the Advent Calendar is a bit of a basic build to pad out the Yule Ball setting – a Fireplace!
