I, for one, love viewing things in the context. Yeah, everyone knows cheating is bad (since monogamy is still one of the core values for many societies), but it's fiction and there's no point in explaining the obvious downside of being a cheating piece of shit to a fictional character. I think it's valid to judge questionable behavior not by an act committed in itself, but by how well it chimes in with a character's arc and whether it moves the story forward, adding anything to the plot and romantic relationship between the main characters. Also another reason I can't rate this higher, the writing. It really doesn't improve. I am growing increasingly aggravated with the repeated sentences, wrong tenses, and awkward word choices that just look wrong in the sentence. I didn't find the writing to be very polished. Valentina, a woman with a loyal heart and a fiery passion. Her first husband who was her best friend who loved her like a sister was gone. Dead. Now she's marrying the youngest Head of the Outfit who seemed to lost the wife he loved most. She had to watch her first marriage go downhill but she's determined to make her second marriage work this time. He was perfectly aware of the effect he had on most women and obviously expected me to fawn over him as well. Hell would freeze over before that happened. But I took a little break after reading BBL so it was okay I was still super thrilled and excited 😍😍 throughout my reading session.

The characters in this novel bring life and heart to this story, each with a distinct voice and personality. They made reader love them, they made reader sad, they made reader angry, they made reader laugh, they made reader cry, and they made reader believe in the promise of love and home. It is an extraordinary piece of work, a perfect balancing act with terror on one side and love on the other. obviously it depends on book's circumstances and how deep the H and h have proceed in their relationship.

She's such an obnoxious, hateful and mouthy bitch to everyone. My biggest pet peeve in stories are unlikable heroines and Gianna fit the bill for that perfectly. AND she was a selfish asshole. I was originally going to skip this story all together because I knew I'd still hate her, and life is too short to read unlikable bitch heroine stories. Yeah, it's true that he loved his first wife, but that sad admission at the end explained so much for me! Aria is a mob daughter who is betrothed to a made man named Luca when she is only 15 years old. Their relationship was one that had me rooting for a happy ever after while at the same time wishing Aria would give Luca a taste of his own damn medicine. I was drawn to Luca because of his mysterious bad boy persona and felt understanding towards Aria and the fears that she felt when coming face to face with the fact that she would be marrying someone she barely knew. This isn't a story about perfect people finding their happy ever after, this is a story about a man who found acceptance and love from a woman who stole his heart and vise versa, despite their differences.

I liked that Matteo didn't gave up the hope on her.... Yeah, he was possesssive, but also was so protective of her and that was something that Gianna needed because nobody else offered her a shelter anymore... Everybody except her siblings gave up on her... But Matteo stayed beside her and fought for her!!!
