I’m certainly going to buy the actual book and keeping on the art, craft and hobbies section of the bookshelf. A paper art book I recommended for any family who loves to create paper art, crafts and hobbies or families who wish to begin a new way to create paper art and interact and communicate in togetherness.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Storey Publishing via NetGalley for my honest review of the book Art of Papercraft Unique One-Sheet Projects Using Origami, Weaving, Quilling, Pop-Up, and Other Inventive Techniques by Helen Hiebert. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own thoughts, feelings and viewpoints of the book. First, I would like to extend thanks to Net Galley and Storey Publishibng for providing this book without charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This book was a nice surprise! Paper is one of my “life loves”. I love the feel of paper texture and I’m always on the lookout for unique paper types, especially when using paper for cards for special people in my life. I loved severa things about this book: I have to admit, Hiebert’s ability to create the colorful world of art with paper amazes me. It’s like viewing a watercolor painting on a piece of paper or an intricate modern art sculpture you could squash with two hands. Even if you are not a paper nut, which I am not, this book is worth considering. Sometimes, we all need a new passion, right? It's a good book to browse for ideas, and for experiments to see if you enjoy doing a particular thing. If you do, you can move on to more in-depth material. Maybe I like these children’s art books because my grandchildren are perfect for discovering the art world. Or, it could be that I am a perpetual child who loves the elementary joy of creating art with pencil and paper. Whichever it is, this time-munching book is the perfect anecdote to a miserably hot afternoon that keeps our inner artists cooped up in an air-conditioned room.

The Cutting chapter covers ten projects that are completed by making before or after folding. Again there are written and photographic instructions to follow, alongside the materials required. Created by various designers, the one-sheet projects shown in the book are broadly categorised under folding, cutting and construction. Each project is visually explained with step-by-step illustrations and includes materials and tools required. This colorful, mind-twisting book is an origami lover’s dream, a fine paper artist’s ode to her inner beauty. I’m so impressed. What can I say about this book? I loved it! I have been doing papercrafts since 2006. Quilling is my favorite and there are not that many sources outside of the quilling world. When I saw this book, I knew it was for me. I was excited to see origami in the book too since I have always wanted to learn but had been intimidated. The step-by-step instructions made it so easy that I cannot believe it took me this long to learn it. I was blown away by the reconstructed Bauhaus Exercise. It is delicate and detailed but with the instructions, anyone that can use a craft knife can do it. Hiebert treats us to full-color renditions of her paper-thin fine art, beautifully photographed and presented for all of us to admire. Like a cookbook, this author shares the necessary tools, techniques, and methods for creating paperwork masterpieces. Then she instructs, informs, and inspires. Five stars. This would be a superlative choice for the home artist, maker's groups and activity groups, school/classroom instruction, or public library acquisition.

I enjoyed perusing through her ideas, carefully looking at the photographs and directions. Some I’ve tried before, some don’t interest me, but some I am excited to try. Artistry is about possibility and this book is full of possibility. QUILLFlD CARD Quilled card Quilling is easíen tharí it looks, evsn if it seerns intímídattng at first. Some projects are very simple and beginner-friendly, while others require much more patience and careful work. Some look highly impressive, while others aren't likely to wow. This can be a bit frustrating both if you want an accessible book for kids, and if you have experience in a particular area and you're looking for projects beyond the basics. Likewise, if you want to explore one area of papercraft in depth, you're likely to be disappointed. Paper artist and teacher, Helen Hiebert compiles a one-of-kind collection of 40 unique projects, each using just one sheet of paper. Combining decorative paper techniques like marbling, stamping, and stenciling, with dimensional techniques like origami, cutting, folding, quilling, stretching, weaving, and pop-ups, The Art of Papercraft offers a rich variety of projects that will delight crafters, artists, and designers alike. I've engaged in papercrafts my whole life and have tried most of the techniques described, but even so there were a few new ones for me (eg studs, fasteners and eyelets). I skimmed through some parts and examined others in detail. The section on bendable paper using wire supports was very interesting, and who can't resist pop-ups and origami?
