About this deal

The actress revealed she had breast cancer as she posted a tribute following the death of Australian star Olivia Newton-John, who had a long battle with the disease, in August.

Bosanquet, Theo (20 May 2022). "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to transfer to the West End this summer | WhatsOnStage". WhatsOnStage . Retrieved 24 March 2023. The story lines and jokes themselves are not particularly strong or memorable, but they provide a framework for the characterisations. I actually found myself laughing most at some of the quieter, more obscure dialogue rather than the obvious crowd-pleasing gags. It's the facial expressions and unspoken body language that intrigued me and made me laugh uneasily, in the same sort of awkward style as The Office or elements of The Fast Show, particularly Ted and Ralph, and the latter's unspoken feelings towards the former. Game On' was overall very much a curate's egg. The crude and bold nature of the programme made it an acquired taste ( I don't think even Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson's 'Bottom' relied so heavily on the word 'shag' ). The cast performed well. Ben Chaplain played Matthew in the first series but was replaced for the remainder of the show's run by Neil Stuke. Matthew Cottle ( who also starred in 'Get Well Soon' ) was perhaps the funniest out of them all as Martin. Samantha said: "I was in Liverpool yesterday and it was wonderful. I was terrified I didn't think anyone would remember. Fans organised this huge prepress to the Eurovision and you know I went on stage and they knew all the words! I honestly had the best time!"I can't believe she's gone into the bedroom with him. I can't believe she's gonna shag that psycho when she's never had the common decency to give me or you one. Matthew Malone (Neil Stuke) in Series 2, Episode 4 Paul "The Rage" Johnson ( David Harewood) - A middleweight boxer whom Mandy dates in Big Wednesday. He is famous, rich, and successful. Matthew feels threatened by him but does not have the nerve to say anything, even when he puts his cold beer on his surfboard.

Much underrated sitcom from the mid to late 1990's detailing the lives of three twenty something's flat-sharers. A less complicated time (no mobiles, little to no internet). At the heart of the story is the Matthew Malone character (played by Ben Chaplin (S1) and Neil Style (S2,S3)) the proprietor of the flat who's parents have died in a tragic car accident and left him with financial means and a severe case of agraphobia as a result of the trauma. It's not often mentioned, but this drives the characterization and is a subtle modifier of the plot of the entire series. It's precisely that 'absence', that makes Matt over-compensate his masculine credentials and despite being a sitcom, allows the viewer to develop at least some sense of sympathy/empathy with the Matt character across the episodes. In fact, that’s a misconception about Game On. It was co-created and written by Bernadette Davis, in her late twenties at the time of the first series. In hindsight, it’s surprising that a show which so accurately captured zeitgeist of the lads’ era was written by a young woman. (Though, to be fair to Pegg, co-creator and writer of the first two series, Andrew Davies, was 60 when Game On started.) Bernadette Davis wrote Game On’s third series alone and would later write the BBC Three sitcom Some Girls, which ran between 2012 and 2014.

In September 2015, it was reported that she was "living in fear" and had alerted the police that she was being stalked. [27] The stalker was given a suspended sentence in December, the same year. British Soap Awards 2010: The Winners". digitalspy.co.uk. 9 May 2010 . Retrieved 30 September 2012.

Today, ahead of this weekend's Eurovision final, Samantha joined Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain to talk about the time she performed 'A Message To Your Heart' to over 55 million people. Mandy was a complex character who owned this need for sex with men. It was the first time a woman had owned that. Babes in the Wood was just an excuse to get girls in lascivious costumes," she says. "I left at the end of the first series. But that whole time definitely readied me for the press intrusion that comes with being in a soap. The press frenzy prepared me - and it truly was a frenzy." In February 2013, she took part in All Star Family Fortunes, donating money to Comic Relief and ActionAid. [25] While Simon Pegg and the Spaced gang might not have chimed with the show’s youth credentials, to a hormone-ravaged teenage boy – such as I was in the mid-Nineties – Game On felt brilliantly edgy: colourful, coarse, and un-PC.

Series 1

First of all let me say that I have never seen the first series (with Ben Chaplin) so I can't judge if this is better or worse. But what I do know is that if you can't laugh with the humour on 'Game On' you should really wonder if you have any sense of humour at all... All About Soap Bubble Awards". 19 February 2012. "My education was incredibly varied," she recalls. "My natural father was a musician - it was a very eclectic, bohemian upbringing in 1970s Brighton. My stepfather was a GP. I went to a Catholic school in Edinburgh and then to a rough comprehensive in London.

Stage school was a big surprise to me; suddenly all these kids bouncing around in leg warmers, brimming with confidence. I just didn't understand that language. It took me a while to get that under my belt." She doesn't want to entirely condemn Age of the Ladette. It marked an important transition from the expectation that women should be quiet and deferential. Obviously none of it - the FHM spreads, the innuendo-soaked sit-coms - would pass for progressive today. One of the joys is that Samantha’s part was just as well written and Matthew and Neil’s parts,” says Wiliam. “All three had the same kind of input. They all had good lines, nobody was feeding, they were all up there with stories and ambitions of their own. It’s that real emotional intelligence that Bernadette has when she’s writing.” Soaps– News– Walford actress struggled with kissing scene– Digital Spy". Digital Spy
