The R5 has the added advantage of being able to capture 8K video, which may be a key consideration for some videographers and hybrid shooters being able to pull a high megapixel frame as an image. The α7 IV’s Quad-VGA OLED viewfinder provides roughly 1.6 times the resolution of the α7 III viewfinder, with a 37.3° FOV and a 23mm high eyepoint. The Alpha 7 IV (model ILCE-7M4) takes off from the Alpha 7 III while elevating what is expected of a “basic” camera with excellent image quality, performance, and advanced film-making features. This means that the A7 IV is better suited to extended shooting sessions, and maybe a more convenient choice for photographers who don’t want to worry about constantly changing batteries. The α7 IV’s built-in Soft Skin Effect makes skin look bright and beautiful, softening wrinkles, blemishes and dull-looking areas while adding emphasis to the eyes and mouth.
