That relatively low pricing hints that these machines aren’t sophisticated designs, constructed largely of plastic and polycarbonate, and the components, such as the screen, aren’t of the highest specification. The performance offered on this machine is something of a mixed bag. We’ve previously tested other machines using the same Core i5-1235U and got better scores than these, and the difference may be down to the memory specs. If that’s one of the best, the worst is undoubtedly the screen. We’re unsure what the exact technology used in the display is, but it is not bright, and the viewing angles aren’t great, suggesting that it isn’t an IPS screen.What’s interesting is that the Windows Experience Index number and the PCMark 10 scores are decent, and with a faster SSD, these would be even better. We are in the budget category and it’s not a surprise that this laptop has an all-plastic build. The chassis isn’t the most rigid one that we have tested – the whole base is a bit bendable if you apply some force on purpose. On the bright side, the laptop weighs 1.80 kilos and the profile is 19.9mm. In terms of hardware, everything looks alright – we have a bunch of Intel Tiger Lake-UP3 CPUs and some iGPUs for the people who don’t need additional graphics power. With the TravelMate P2, it has never been easier to work away from the office. Step up your productivity through a combination of increased processing power, portability, and durability bundled with a wide range of handy business features and advanced connectivity options. For the professional on the road, there's no better choice. One curiosity is the screen hinges that tease that they might be fully reversible but aren’t. These hinges do allow the screen to fold flat, travelling 180 degrees from the close position to fully extended. Not sure what the value is in this much rotation, but it’s what it can do.

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced. In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering. Pictures may differ from the offer.However, there is one aspect of the P2 we didn’t care for, and that was the liberal plastering of bloatware on the Windows 11 installation. Customers should therefore budget an afternoon to strip the machine of everything they didn’t pay for so they can use the one thing they did. Accessing this laptop’s internals is a relatively easy job. First, you need to undo 12 Phillips-head screws. Then, pry the bottom panel away with a plastic tool and you’re ready for taking off. One side note to our internal investigations was the battery, the one that Acer claims is 56 Whr. Based on a quoted voltage and amperage printed on the battery, our maths says 54.5 Whr is a more accurate number.
